If you know me, you know that I dislike the cold weather. I tell people that if I could hibernate during the winter, I would (smile). When I’m out with my family and/or friends, they know that I’m going to walk fast to get to our destination. I don’t have time to chit chat or walk side by side. I just want to get there and back. (LOL)
I’m a summer girl. I love the warm weather. I would rather cool myself down then to warm myself up. I know there are some people who feel like me. On the other hand, I know there are people who like the cold weather and would love to express their thoughts as well.
However, I’m here to share some tips that will help you stay warm during the winter months:
- Snuggle up with your loved one
- Purchase a thick robe
- Keep sweat socks on your feet. Once my feet are cold, my entire body is cold (smile)
- Dress in layers when you are outside
- Wear a hat
- Wear gloves
- Wear a scarf (scarves can be worn as a fashion statement and for warmth)
- Put an extra blanket on the bed
- If you have a heater in your bathroom, put it on 5 minutes before taken a shower. It will definitely be warm when you step out.
- Purchase a throw and snuggle up with it on your couch or bed
- Purchase a Snuggie, it surely works
- Winterize your house (put up heavy curtains, cover door cracks, cover windows, get a digital thermostat)
- Purchase an automatic car starter, keep the heat on low, and start your car 10-15 minutes prior to leaving. When you get in your car, it will be nice and toasty.
Additionally, eat oatmeal and drink hot chocolate. These two make my top warming up list!
If you don’t know how to make oatmeal or don’t have time to make homemade oatmeal, here is my instant oatmeal recipe:
- A pack of Quaker oat or store brand maple brown and sugar
- 1/3 cup of hot water (add milk if you prefer)
- A teaspoon of margarine (add butter if you prefer)
- A splash of milk of your choice, I add just enough to make it creamy (remember your choice)
- Put the packet of oatmeal in a glass bowl. Add 1/3 cup of water (or milk) stir and place into microwave for 30-60 seconds. Stir again after taken oatmeal out of the microwave, add one teaspoon of margarine (or butter) then a splash of milk (your choice of liking) and stir oatmeal again.
Your oatmeal will taste as if you made it on the stove. Enjoy!
For hot chocolate lovers, add marshmallows to give it a kick!
I hope these tips help you stay warm. If you have any to share, please do. You can certainly help someone stay warm.
Angela
